It's time D.C.H. treats its employees with the respect we deserve!
Take a stand fight for fairness, respect, and compensation equal to other area hospitals!
Take a stand fight for fairness, respect, and compensation equal to other area hospitals!
The reason given by management for paying DCH nursing staff considerably less than other area hospitals is that "DCH nurses work at DCH for the opportunity to take care of the Dayton areas children".
Although it is incredible honor to be able to provide care to the children living in around Dayton, Ohio this fact should not be used as a bargaining chip to pay DCH nursing staff less than other area hospitals.
Just imagine the quality of nursing candidates that would apply to DCH for the opportunity to take of our areas most precious resource, our children, as well as, being paid equal to other area hospitals.
DCH has instituted a PTO policy that has STOPPED the ability to accrue PTO; a use it or lose it policy.
This policy is a blatant attempt at stealing accrued paid time off; particularly for longtime employees. PTO is an aspect of compensation agreed upon when hired, and at the very least should be paid out after the PTO limit has been met, not effectively being stolen by DCH.
DCH has gotten away from merit-based pay increases to a standardized incremental pay increase that is entirely unacceptable and again does not keep pace with area hospitals.
DCH has consistently not met the national cost-of-living increases seen for Americans and in essence DCH employees are making less year over year. Most recent was a poultry 4.5 percent, not even making up for the cost of living skipped during Covid, while the actual cost of living is soring over 8 percent.
The nursing staff at DCH has expressed repeated concerns over the insufficient staffing and how it negatively impacts patient care.
This results in a high turnover of nursing staff further compounding the staffing issue.
Any employee that has spent any type at all DCH is well aware that there are and inordinate amount of management positions in relation to staff that actually provides patient care.
This has been a repeated issue at DCH over the years that has been inevitably corrected from time to time with a sudden reduction in management staff, however the persistent short staffing in relation to those that actually provide care to the patients is seemingly is never corrected.
Ask any corporate training personnel when you are well aware that you are not compensating your employees appropriately provide them with short-term fix morale boosters like pizza parties, taco bars, and ice cream socials.
In the photo seen below; management at the highest level has aligned itself with those that would kneel during the national anthem and insult the fallen heroes and their families that have suffered to protect this nation and its national anthem. .
The disturbing aspect of this photo is NOT the company that management has chose to keep, as the overall message is a pertinent and much-needed message in regard to inequality regarding those that are marginalized in our society today, we applaud DCH for making that STAND, however the adoption of the practice of kneeling with those that would kneel during the playing of the national anthem is very disrespectful and a slap in the face to those that have died to protect our nation and the ability to sing our national anthem.
This is especially hurtful to those that have chosen to serve our nation that are currently in the armed forces that work at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base that undoubtedly bring their children to DCH.
The photo representation of management at the highest level to adopt the practice of kneeling in regards to a politically charged issue as an insult and a slap in the face to those that have fallen to protect our nation.
The average pay scale at DCH is considerably less than other area hospitals.
With the most recent update from those at the highest levels at DCH, it seems there might actually be some movement, we wait with bated breath and hope the news will not be woefully inadequate.
DCH cost-of-living increase does not keep pace with the national or state cost-of-living increases. Current cost of living is over 8%, 4.5% is insulting, and abundantly so; as DCH has consistently been behind the curve year over year.
Who an individual identifies as or is attracted to should have no bearing on their employment, period!
PTO is part of an employee's compensation and should be paid out when the limit is reached, not lost.
When an employee is hired, PTO is part of their compensation package and should be paid out if they are unable to use it before it is taken, we would be interested to see the amount of money employees have lost because staffing would not allow the utilization of PTO.
The amount of time needed to reach top out is agonizingly long when compared to other area hospitals.
With the most recent update from those at the highest levels at DCH, it seems there might actually be some movement on the painfully slow pay scale increases, as well; we wait.
The hospital program initiated to help certain groups of individuals based on skin color, while excluding other groups of individuals based on skin color, is something of a misguided and forgotten era and should stay there; not to be revised by DCH.
With the recent update from those at the highest level at DCH, it has been made clear that, the drive behind this effort, is to better match the racial makeup of Dayton, to provide better care to the patients treated by DCH.
As DCH has in no uncertain terms stated that white, non-people of color can not adequately provide care for those of color, will only cause a huge divide between the staff, and those that support this unionization effort WHOLEHEARTEDLY reject this notion.
This misguided notion that only people of color can provide healing care, or optimal care to those of color is ludicrous, and on its face RACIST, if this is the tact that DCH is choosing to take, then dose DCH only believe that whites should care for whites?
SAY IT OUT LOUD, whites can only provide optimal care for whites, people of color can only provide optimal care for people of color. IF ANY PART OF THIS STATEMENT IS WRONG OR RACIST, ALL OF THIS STATEMENT IS WRONG AND RACIST!!
We take the stance that the entire statement is wrong and racist!! A true attempt at inclusion and diversity is proving that ALL employees at DCH are trained and provided to resources to provide optimal care to ALL those that walk through the doors, and not accusing white staff members of being unable or being racist and unwilling to provide care to patients based on skin color!
MAYBE ITS TIME FOR SOME NATIONAL NEWS COVERAGE ON THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE.
We have received an overwhelming response and interest in our endeavor to get a voice at the table, we would also like to recognize many DCH employees outside of nursing, and welcome you all!!
I think it's great that DCH is choosing to help people get a nursing degree, my question is; I'm 1/4 Afro-American, will I qualify for the entire financial assistance or will my 3/4 whiteness be excluded from financial help?
With the ongoing staffing issues, why doesn't DCH step up to the plate and become one of the highest paid hospitals in the area instead of always trying to play catch-up?
I am a single mother of two trying to provide for my family and would love nothing more than help from the hospital to go to nursing school, however my skin color does not meet the first criteria to be able to receive this help, how can the hospital do this?
How can Dayton Children's Hospital make an attempt to hire and retain certain employees based on skin color? Why would DCH sow the seeds of resentment amongst its staff?
Why has DCH required answering of questionnaires seeking information on employees gender identification and who employees are romantically attracted to?
Why has the hospital only chosen to help certain groups of individuals obtain their nursing license with other individuals being excluded based on skin color?
As a member of the LGBTQ community I find it highly insulting the questions set forth in workday in regards to who I am attracted to and that I may receive preferential treatment in regards to whom I'm attracted.
How can DCH not address the fact that during the recent covid academic DCH did not give his employees a raise until recently with no attempt to address the skipped year?
Why does the hospital involve itself in politically touchy subjects and align itself with those that would kneel during the playing of our national anthem? I am a veteran and find it incredibly insulting for the sacrifices my family and myself have made.
How can DCH use the fact that it's employees loves caring for the areas children as a reason to under pay its staff less
How can the hospital take accumulated PTO from hard-working employees, effectively stealing part of the agreed upon compensation when hired?
How can DCH continue to expect more from its employees while continuing to address short staffing issues and particularly respiratory therapy positions?
